WWE AND TNA NEWS 09/08/12

Kurt Angle was at Friday night’s TNA house show in Atlanta, but didn’t wrestle. He did a promo early in the show explaining that he was injured the night before and was then attacked by Aces and Eights. During the main event, Angle returned

during an Aces and Eights beat down to deliver an Olympic slam on a masked man believed to be Luke Gallows.

At this time, there is no word on if Angle will be able to wrestle on tomorrow’s TNA No Surrender PPV. The feeling is if he does work the show, he will be very limited. Angle is scheduled to team with AJ Styles to take on Daniels and Kazarian for the tag team titles.

WWE will release their “John Cena vs. The Rock: Once In a Lifetime” DVD and Blu-ray this week. Courtesy of WWEDVDNews.com, we have some quotes from WWE Champion CM Punk. They note that most Superstar comments were positive but WWE decided t

o leave in Punk’s negative comments towards The Rock.

Punk on the Rock/Cena rivalry: “I wish we could get more face to face stuff, you know, but I guess that’s kind of the dichotomy we’re stuck with. I also think that’s what makes it interesting.”

Punk on Rock coming back and main eventing: “It’s been a frustrating year. Not just for me but a lot of other Superstars. The Rock waltzes in and he wrestles two days a year. Rock says this place is family, well, I hang out with my family as often as I can.”

In the documentary portion of the DVD, The Rock addresses the backstage heat he had with members of the WWE roster:

“I strip away all the BS that can be fostered in the locker room with some of the guys. Strip away all that, because I don’t hear all that, it’s all noise, and it’s all bullshit to me.”

Vince McMahon is reportedly a big fan of the Prime Time Players and loves their “swagger” and celebratory dance. The team is still set for a tag title run despite the A.W. debacle.

– PWInsider confirms that Bully Ray has signed a new contract with TNA. He re-signed 3-4 days ago and word is that it’s for two years. Ray will continue to wrestle for TNA and work as a backstage agent.

This is the first time in years that Ray and Devon won’t be working together in a promotion. They will continue to work together at their Team 3D Academy in Florida. There was talk at Thursday’s Impact that TNA “didn’t do right by Devon” because he got himself into better shape and did everything asked, including working with younger talents like Garett Bischoff. Some people in TNA were shocked that the company did not re-sign Devon because he was one of the most well liked.

– The Wrestling Observer stated this week that there is good chance that Chris Sabin could be leaving TNA Wrestling in the near future, following Alex Shelley, Devon, Matt Morgan, Ric Flair and Velvet Sky. However, no additional details on his contractual status were given.

WWE planted the seeds for the Brogue Kick being banned on RAW recently when Sheamus won a match by submission with the Texas Cloverleaf. Now that Booker T has banned the Brogue Kick, speculation is that Sheamus will retain his World Heavyweight Title with the Cloverleaf. For those wondering, the ban on the Brogue Kick is just temporary for the storylines.

After taking some time off in the storylines last Monday at RAW, WWE will be keeping Jack Swagger off TV for a few weeks and he may return to TV as a babyface. Swagger is scheduled to appear on RAW when they return to his home state of Oklahoma on October 1st, the same night that some kind of festivities are planned for Jim Ross.

We noted before that Kevin Nash is headed to Japan this month to team with The Great Muta to face Seiya Sanada and Taiyo Kea for All Japan Pro Wrestling. Nash is being brought in after talks with Ric Flair failed. Muta wanted to team with F

lair but the two sides couldn’t agree on financial terms. The most money AJPW was willing to offer for the match was $15,000 so you get an idea of what kind of money Nash is going overseas for.
